Patrick Henry's Scotchtown, the picturesque estate of the hero of the American Revolution and the first governor of Virginia, will be the site of the 8th annual naturalization ceremony where new citizens recite the Oath of Allegiance.
To highlight the importance of U.S. citizenship, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization ceremonies are often held at prominent national and historic landmarks nationwide. During the 2010 fiscal year, USCIS welcomed 619,913 citizens during naturalization ceremonies across the United States, of which 17,815 were welcomed to Virginia.
