The John Marshall House Salon Series: A Magnificent Catastrophe

When: April 5, 2017 from 5:30pm to 8:00pm

John Marshall and the Election of 1800 featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edward Larson

"They could write like angels and scheme like demons," says Edward Larson's masterful account of the wild ride that was the 1800 presidential election—an election so turbulent and so momentous to the future of American democracy that Thomas Jefferson would later dub it "America's second revolution."

In the spirit of the intimate salon gatherings of the Enlightenment, guests will have the opportunity to discuss and engage in conversation on the finer points of American democracy with the author, historians and interpreters in the home of Chief Justice Marshall.

Edward Larson will be signing copies of A Magnificent Catastrophe. You may purchase yours in the John Marshall House museum store.

A limited number of tickets will be sold to this exclusive gathering. General admission is $10, with a discount for Preservation Virginia members. Be sure to use the promo code PV2017 for member pricing.

This Salon is presented to you by Preservation Virginia's John Marshall House and The John Marshall Foundation.
