The Red Lion Tavern is located on Loudoun Street in Winchester and is listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. The building is under protective easement with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
The two-one-and-one-half stone building has 13 rooms and served as a favorite Winchester hostelry from 1783 until the mid-19th-century. It is located in the heart of Winchester's Historic District.
The Red Lion Tavern was acquired by the Revolving Fund Program in 1991 and sold in 1998. The building has undergone a complete and careful restoration.
