Join Matthew R. Laird, Ph.D., Partner and Senior Researcher with the James River Institute for Archaeology, Inc., for the first public discussion of the 2018 excavations at the “Stith’s” property near Bacon’s Castle in Surry County. The property belonged to the Allen family of Bacon’s Castle in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the findings—including human remains and a unique brick building—shed new light on the lives and livelihoods of the Allen’s and their tenants over nearly 150 years.
Moderated by Preservation Virginia’s Director of Museum Operations, Jennifer Hurst-Wender.
