13th Annual Naturalization Ceremony
Held for the thirteenth consecutive year, the Naturalization Ceremony has become a distinctly patriotic event at Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown. It serves as a reminder of the varied makeup of our nation's citizenry which, through natural birth or Naturalization, weaves the cultural patchwork that is the United States.
This year’s speaker will be Phil Storey, an attorney at the Legal Aid Justice Center in the Immigrant Advocacy Program. Phil joined Legal Aid on a Powell Fellowship from the University of Virginia in 2009 to defend immigrants’ rights. His work includes helping immigrant communities to organize and defend their rights in both individual and large group situations, helping form coalitions of community organizations and non-profits to address pressing concerns of immigrant communities, and representing clients in state and federal court in a variety of cases. He earned a B.A. from Brigham Young University, an M.A. from Southern Methodist University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia.
Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown welcomes the public to attend the ceremony to witness the momentous occasion. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Attendance is free!
Following the Naturalization Ceremony, new citizens and their families are encouraged to explore Patrick Henry’s Scotchtown. For more information, call (804) 227-3500
