Virginia Preservation Conference

When: October 6, 2017 from 8:00am to 6:00pm

Preservation Virginia will be hosting its 32nd Annual Virginia Preservation Conference Friday, October 6 at Union Train Station in Petersburg. Each year, the conference brings together architects, builders, preservationists, government leaders, developers, lawyers, local planning officials and everyday citizens from across the Commonwealth to delve into preservation ideas and initiatives.

Explore the Value of Partnerships at the Virginia Preservation Conference

This year, we invite friends of historic preservation to explore the collaborations between organizations in the private and public sector that are strengthening Virginia’s communities. New restaurants and businesses in our host city of Petersburg are already leveraging opportunities for heritage tourism and the synergy of a creative community.

Keynote Speaker – Dr. David J. Trowbridge

Dr. David J. Trowbridge, associate professor of history and director of African and African American studies at Marshall University, is this year’s keynote speaker. Dr. Trowbridge invented Clio, a mobile app and website that helps users discover the history around them through a dynamic map that includes museums and historic landmarks.
