// no rows foundPreservation Virginia is excited to present our Second Annual Historic Places Art Contest in Fall 2023! Debuted in 2022 to mirror some of Preservation Virginia’s advocacy and awareness work that we carry out across the state, the contest asks students to select an historic place or structure in their community (within 25 miles) and interpret it in 2D or 3D art. The Historic Places Art Contest is open to 3rd-12th grade, creating three divisions: elementary (3rd-5th), middle (6th-8th), and high (9th-12th). Students will only be judged against those in their division. Students must submit a digital copy of their art, an image of the original historic structure or place and a short statement expressing why they selected their subject and why it’s important to their community.
All submissions are due by November 20, 2023 at 11:59pm via electronic entry form. If a student has difficulty using this form, please email education@preservationvirginia.org for an alternative method of submission.
1st-3rd place winners in all three divisions will be announced December 15, 2023 via email. The winning art will be displayed on the Preservation Virginia website and winning students will receive a membership to Preservation Virginia and a gift card prize. Winning teachers will receive a free student program (in-person, virtual, or field trip) with one of Preservation Virginia’s historic sites (excluding Historic Jamestowne), as well as a Preservation Virginia membership.
