Designed to educate the public and to spark further interest in Virginia’s history, Virginia’s historical highway marker program- the oldest such program in the nation- has installed more than 2,500 markers to highlight people, places, and events of regional, statewide, and national significance. The popularity of highway markers is encouraging more Virginia localities to create their own local marker programs to share local history and draw visitors.
Join Jennifer Loux, Highway Marker Program Historian and Program Coordinator of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources; Justin Patton, Prince William County Archaeologist and local marker program manager; and Mark Reed, Historic Preservation Planner and local marker program manager for the City of Virginia Beach as we explore state highway markers and how to establish a local historical marker program in your city or county.
Costs for the webinar are $25 for non-members and $15 for members. A group rate of $100 is available for a group of 6 or more. For more information on group tickets, please contact Sonja Ingram at email@example.com. To register please go to the link below.
