Preservation Academy 2023 Webinar Webinar 5: Dispelling Common Historic Preservation Myths

Mar 29, 2023

12:00 pm — 1:15 pm

“Once a house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places it is protected forever and can’t be demolished.“ Myths like this about historic preservation never seem to fade.

Join Lena McDonald, Register Historian and Jessica Ugarte, Architectural Historian and Tax Credit Supervisor for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources; and Maral Kalbian Owner of Maral Kalbian Consulting and Preservation Virginia Board Member, for a webinar to discuss and dispel the many misunderstandings and inaccuracies about topics such as living in a historic district, historic registers, altering historic buildings, funding for preservation projects, property values, and more. This webinar will be moderated by Karice Luck-Brimmer, Program Associate, Community Initiatives of Virginia Humanities and member of the Virginia Board of Historic Resources.

Costs for the webinar are $25 for non-members and $15 for members. A group rate of $100 is available for a group of 6 or more. For more information on group tickets, please contact Sonja Ingram at singram@preservationvirginia.org. To register please click the link below:
