Preservation Academy Workshop 1- Historic Districts: How They Work and Dispelling Myths

The first installment in this year’s Preservation Academy Series, this workshop will focus on the differences between federal, state and local-level historic districts, differences between urban and rural historic districts, benefits historic districts provide, regulations and requirements for owning property in a historic district, and myths about living in a historic district.

Speakers include Dr. Christine Henry, Associate Professor, University of Mary Washington; Greg Rutledge, Preservation Architect at Hanbury and Norfolk Architectural Review Board Member; and Heidi Siebentritt, Loudoun County Preservation Planner. Phil Deemer, President, Preservation Bath, will be the moderator.

This event will be held online via Zoom. Cost is $25 for the general public, $10 for Preservation Virginia members.
