Bacon’s Castle is a historic site owned and operated by Preservation Virginia. It is also a site that retains a history of nearly 200 years of enslavement. We are dedicated to telling this story, and fundraising events like this help fund our research and interpretation of the lives of those enslaved here.
Our top priority is for all visitors to feel welcome and reflected in the interpretation of this historic space. We recognize this is a site of traumatic history. How we share that history is essential to honoring descendants in the community and the legacy of their ancestors.
To learn more about our work, please visit the exhibit inside the mansion house, take the free audio tour, or come back at a later date to take a tour.
