April 24, 2013
As proposed earlier this year, the fee charged at Historic Jamestowne will increase beginning April 27, 2013. The fee will be $14.00 for adults age 16 and older; children under age 16 will be admitted for free. The fee includes unlimited admission to both the Historic Jamestowne and Yorktown Battlefield units of Colonial NHP for seven consecutive days.
Visitors that purchase or present a Senior pass, Interagency pass or Preservation Virginia pass will pay $5.00 for entrance to Historic Jamestowne. Military pass holders and children under age 16 will continue to enter for free. All National Park Service Fee Free Days will be honored.
Modification of the fee structure will support the highly significant archaeological research at Historic Jamestowne, the first permanent English colony in America, as well as facilitating enhanced educational programs and operations. Recognizing the extraordinary value and public benefit of this unique historical site to the nation, Preservation Virginia and the National Park Service believe this measure will help secure the future of Historic Jamestowne for generations of Americans to come.
The National Park Service and Preservation Virginia cooperatively manage Historic Jamestowne, which is part of Colonial National Historical Park. Preservation Virginia acquired 22.5 acres of Jamestown Island in 1893. In 1930, the remainder of the 1,500-acre island became part of the Colonial National Monument, which was renamed Colonial National Historical Park in 1936.
